Determining if You Need a Permit
To determine whether or not your project requires a grading permit, complete the Grading Permit Questionnaire (PDF).
Permit Not Required
Submit your completed application and site plan to the Planning Department. If your responses to the application indicate that no grading permit is required, we will process your project as a grading exemption.
Permit Required
If your responses indicate that you do need a grading permit, continue to Step Two.
Exemptions
Certain grading projects may be exempt from requiring a grading permit, depending on the extent of grading to be done. To read the details of exemptions, see Section 17 of the Grading Ordinance (Chapter 30 of the Lake County Code of Ordinances).
